The aim of the diploma thesis is to research the design of fashion accessories with zero waste or at least with minimum waste and to research the technique of laminating textiles with epoxy resin. The thesis deals with digital design and printing of textile patterns, lamination of textiles, laser cutting of fashion accessories and the design of handbags using the folding technique. The purpose of the thesis is to learn about all the aforementioned techniques, their properties and advantages. At the same time, selected artists who create in the aforementioned techniques are researched.
In the theoretical part, fashion accessories, sustainability and zero waste design as one of the sustainability principles are first researched. Three production techniques are further described: digital textile printing, laser cutting and lamination of textiles with epoxy resin. The techniques are presented in general, including their use in the textile industry. Certain artists who create with the mentioned techniques and their works of art are listed.
The experimental artistic part presents the linear process of creating fashion accessories. It begins with the presentation of the project and its beginning. Next, the manufacturing processes in sets are described. The process of creating textile patterns in Adobe Photoshop and digital printing of the resulting patterns, the process of laminating textiles with epoxy resin and experimenting with it, the design and creation of a file for jewellery laser cut, and finally the final assembly of fashion accessories are presented. Each individual process is self-sufficient and uniquely creative, but with the aim of combining all products into a thoughtful and useful whole.
