In today's time, leadership is very important, as because of fast growing companies, organizations need adequate leadership to keep up with progress, and on the other hand, the support, knowledge and skills of managers keep them at the top. In the diploma thesis, we dealt with the interpretation of the concepts of management and leadership. We wanted to show the transition from the management paradigm, which represents the importance of organizing, controlling and directing, to the leadership paradigm, which represents a more modern way of approaching managers. We started by defining the concept of management and presented it through development. We defined the classical theories of management and its four main functions: planning, controlling, organizing and leading. We also elaborated on the qualities of a successful manager. Through the review of the literature, we also defined leadership, described leadership models for leaders and their leadership style. We continued the thesis with a presentation of the relationship between management and leadership, to which our research question also refers. We concluded the summary of the entire diploma thesis with the assertion that the transition from the paradigm of management to the paradigm of leadership is merely an adaptation to modern challenges, and that leadership is a function of management that does not replace but complements management.
