Abstract
V diplomskem delu so opisane reakcije [Zn(quin)2(H2O)] z 2-piridonom pri povišani temperaturi. Narejene so bile številne reakcije, pri katerih so bile uporabljene različne mase reaktantov, različna množinska razmerja, različna topila, nekaterim reakcijskim zmesem pa je bila dodana tudi baza. Segrevanje je potekalo pri dveh različnih temperaturah, 105 °C ali 115 °C. Reakcije so se ločile tudi po času segrevanja, ki je bil od 1 do 3 dni. Pri večini reakcij je kot produkt nastala čista kristalinična snov s sestavo [Zn2,5(quin)4(2-piridon)(2-py-O)]n. Spojina ima polimerno strukturo, poleg koordiniranega 2-piridona pa vsebuje tudi njegovo anionsko obliko, 2-piridonat. Ugotovili smo, da za deprotonacijo 2-piridona dodatek baze npr. trietilamina ni potreben, saj polimerno spojino izoliramo iz reakcijskih zmesi, katerim baza ni bila dodana. Opisane reakcije so ponovljive, pri vseh pa nastaja mikrokristaliničen produkt. Priprava večjih kristalov [Zn2,5(quin)4(2-piridon)(2-py-O)]n ni uspela.

Title:Optimization of the zinc(II) quinaldinate reaction with 2-pyridone
Abstract:
In the diploma work, the reactions of [Zn(quin)2(H2O)] with 2-pyridone at elevated temperatures are described. Numerous reactions were carried out, using different amounts of reagents, various molar ratios, and solvents, with some reaction mixtures also having a base added. The heating was conducted at two different temperatures, either at 105 °C or 115 °C. The reactions also varied in the duration of heating, ranging from 1 to 3 days. Most reactions resulted in a pure crystalline product with the [Zn2.5(quin)4(2-pyridone)(2-py-O)]n composition. The compound has a polymeric structure and contains both coordinated 2-pyridone and its anionic form, 2-pyridonate. It was found that the deprotonation of 2-pyridone does not require the addition of a base, such as triethylamine, as the polymeric compound can be isolated from the reaction mixtures without the extraneous base. The described reactions are reproducible, and all yield a microcrystalline product. The preparation of larger crystals of [Zn2.5(quin)4(2-pyridone)(2-py-O)]n was not successful.
