Master's thesis investigates the migrant workers status in Slovenia. Topic of this research is very current, especially considering demographic trends (negative growth and longevity of Slovenian society). Mentioned demographic trends indicate a lack of workforce in the field. In this situation employment of foreign labour shows up as a possible solution.
In the last years European countries, including Slovenia started to dedicate more and more attention to regulation of migration and employment of migrants. Despite its efforts to regulate migration trends, there are still many irregular migrants and migrants working in the grey economy.
Moreover, national legislation places migrants in unequal position in comparison to Slovenian citizens. Mentioned inequality has direct impact on migrants position in Slovenian society and on their living conditions. The thesis will investigate current working and living conditions of migrant workers in Slovenia. It will also collect information about the role that institutions and organizations working in the field of social care have in migrants lives.
