The main concept of the master's thesis focuses on finding out how to present and address the topic of terrorism in the upper general secondary school. In the theoretical part, we found that there is no single definition of terrorism in the world. Knowledge of the current global problems of terrorism about the past is crucial for students' life prospects and therefore one of the important goals that a history teacher in the upper secondary school should strive for. The assignment describes the modus operandi, organization, and purpose of terrorism and provides a brief history of terrorist acts, focusing on the attacks of 11 September 2001, in the USA and the current state of terrorism in the world. Following the analysis of the secondary school textbooks and curriculum, we found that the topic of terrorism is included in the broader compulsory topic of »Cooperation and Conflict in the 20th Century« in the 4th year of secondary school. The results of the pupils' answers to the questionnaire showed that their knowledge of the subject of terrorism was good and they showed a great interest in it. Although terrorism is presented through examples of past major and high-profile events, the Master's thesis suggests that it is advisable to relate the topic to current events, with which students can identify even more easily.
