Abstract
V današnjem svetu je mikroplastika razširjena po vseh ekosistemih in je tako majhna, da jo lahko zaužijejo nekatere nevretenčarske vrste. Med pomembne vire mikroplastike spada obraba pnevmatik. V naši študiji smo preučevali preživetje in imunski odziv kopenskega raka enakonožca Porcellio scaber na bakterijsko okužbo, ki je sledila predhodni izpostavitvi delcem pnevmatik. Hkrati smo preučevali tudi vpliv predhodne izpostavitve insekticidu klorpirifos, ki je predstavljal pozitivno kontrolo, saj ima že znan negativen učinek na nevretenčarje. Rake smo najprej izpostavili delcem pnevmatik (1,5 % m/m suhe teže) ali insekticidu klorpirifos (2 mg/kg suhe teže), kar smo imenovali primarna izpostavitev, nato pa smo jih po eno- ali dvotedenski izpostavitvi za simulacijo bakterijske okužbe (sekundarna izpostavitev) injicirali z lipopolisaharidi (LPS). Rezultati so pokazali, da izpostavljenost delcem pnevmatik ni vplivala na preživetje ali imunski odziv rakov. Nasprotno pa je izpostavljenost klorpirifosu povzročila spremembe v imunskih parametrih, vendar brez opaznih sprememb v preživetju. Po sekundarnem izzivu z LPS se je imunski odziv povečal pri rakih, ki so bili predhodno izpostavljeni klorpirifosu, medtem ko pri tistih, izpostavljenih delcem pnevmatik, ni bilo bistvenih sprememb. V nobenem primeru predhodna izpostavitev ni vplivala na preživetje rakov. Za oceno dolgoročnih in subletalnih vplivov teh onesnaževal na imunski odziv enakonožcev bi bila potrebna nadaljnja raziskava.

Title:Immune response of the terrestrial crustacean Porcellio scaber to lipopolysacchar injection after microplastics pre-exposure
Abstract:
In today's world, microplastics are pervasive across all ecosystems and are small enough to be ingested by some invertebrate species. Tire wear is a significant source of microplastics. Our study investigated the survival and immune response of the terrestrial isopod Porcellio scaber to bacterial infection after pre-exposure to tire particles. We also examined the effect of the pre-exposure to insecticide chlorpyrifos, which served as a positive control due to its known negative effects on invertebrates. Isopods were exposed to tire particles (1.5 % w/w dry weight) or chlorpyrifos (2 mg/kg dry weight), which we referred to as primary exposure. After one or two weeks of exposure, we injected them with lipopolysaccharides (LPS) to simulate a bacterial infection (secondary exposure). Results indicated that exposure to tire particles did not affect isopod survival or immune response. In contrast, chlorpyrifos exposure led to changes in immune parameters, although survival rates remained unaffected. After a secondary LPS challenge, the immune response was enhanced in isopods previously exposed to chlorpyrifos, whereas those pre-exposed to tire particles showed no significant changes. In no case did pre-exposure affect woodlice survival. Further research is necessary to evaluate the long-term and sublethal effects of these pollutants on the immune response of isopods.
