Abstract

Title:Effect of non-ionic surfactants on nucleate boiling heat transfer
Abstract:
The thesis examines the impact of non-ionic surfactants on heat transfer during nucleate boiling. The issue is based on the property of surfactants to reduce interfacial surface tension, thereby affecting the efficiency of heat transfer with phase change. The thesis includes an experimental evaluation of heat transfer using non-ionic surfactants Tween 20, Tween 40, and MEGA-10 at different concentrations in aqueous solution. The methodology involves experimental evaluation of boiling curves and determination of the critical heat flux for various surfactant concentrations. The results show that surfactants have a negligible effect on heat transfer parameters at low concentrations but deteriorate them at high concentrations.

Keywords:Heat transfer, nucleate boiling, nonionic surfactants, boiling curve, surface tension, critical micelle concentration
