The thesis titled "Dealing with Selected Picture Books with a Special Needs Topic consists of a theoretical and an empirical part.
The thesis is therefore composed of two parts: the theoretical part and the empirical part. The theoretical part of the thesis is dedicated to identifying children with special needs; defining children's literature; and providing an overview of the development of picture books along with their history. An analysis of eight selected picture books with the theme of special needs by the author Helena Kraljič is presented, following Marjana Kobe's literary analysis. Additionally, an interview with the author Helena Kraljič and her biography are included.
The empirical part of the thesis includes the implementation of a project, which encompasses the presentation of planned activities based on the use of eight picture books, conducted with a group of children aged five to six years. The goal of these activities is to improve understanding and acceptance of children with special needs.
In the conclusion of the thesis, the results of the empirical part are presented and analyzed in detail. Through the implementation of the project, I gained valuable insights into the understanding of special needs through the eyes of a child. Additionally, the obtained results can serve as a basis for recommendations and further research in this field.
