Abstract
Fotokataliza je ena izmed ključnih metod na področju trajnostne kemije, saj se njena uporabnost izkazuje na različnih področjih, vključno s čiščenjem onesnaženih voda. Zaradi povečanega obsega farmacevtske industrije in drugih antropogenih posegov v naravo se v vodi kopičijo organske snovi, ki jih obstoječe metode čiščenja v čistilnih napravah ne morejo odstraniti. V okviru raziskovalnega projekta z naslovom »Izdelava hibridnih kompozitov Z-sheme s CNT in načrtovanje fotokatalitičnega reaktorja za čiščenje industrijske odpadne vode« (N2-0310) sem izvedla analizo aktivnosti različnih fotokatalizatorjev. Preučevala sem vzorce, ki so vključevali titanov dioksid, bazične bizmutove nitrate, titanatne nanocevke in železove titanate. Njihovo aktivnost sem določila s spremljanjem razgradnje barvila Plasmocorinth B in farmacevtika ibuprofena pri osvetljevanju z UV in vidno svetlobo. Rezultati so pokazali, da je bil najaktivnejši vzorec tisti, ki je vseboval nanodelce titanovega dioksida z nanosom bizmutovih nitratov. Njegova aktivnost je bila pri razgradnji ibuprofena pod vidno svetlobo višja od aktivnosti standardnega titanovega dioksida P25, pod UV osvetljevanjem, in pri razgradnji barvila primerljiva s standardom.

Title:Photocatalytic activity of iron titanates, basic bismuth nitrates and titanate nanotubes in aqueous medium
Abstract:
Photocatalysis stands out as one of the most significant methods in sustainable chemistry, offering numerous potential applications, including wastewater purification. Due to the expanding pharmaceutical industry and other human impacts on the environment, concentrations of specific organic contaminants have been increasing over recent decades. The challenge lies in effectively degrading these organic substances using current methods in wastewater treatment plants. During my diploma work, I conducted an analysis of various photocatalysts for the research project Fabrication of Z-scheme hybrid composites with CNTs and the design of a photocatalytic reactor for industrial wastewater treatment (N2-0310). The photocatalysts tested included titanium dioxide, basic bismuth nitrates, titanate nanotubes, and iron titanates. To evaluate their effectiveness, I monitored the degradation of Plasmocorinth B organic dye and ibuprofen pharmaceutical under UV and visible light. The results highlighted the superior performance of the sample containing basic bismuth nitrate-decorated titanium dioxide nanoparticles. Its photocatalytic activity was comparable to the activity of commercially available titanium dioxide P25 and much higher in the degradation of ibuprofen under visible light conditions.
