Abstract

Title:Potential of using BIM for quality assurance and control in all phases of the life cycle of less demanding buildings : graduation thesis
Abstract:
Quality assurance and quality control are two of the essential factors on which the success of the final project depends on. As noted in the thesis, quality is made up of wide range of factors, time and money being among those that are most important to the final user. With the aim of making the work as easy as possible for the rest of the project participants, while still complying with quality requirements and legal regulations, new technology gradually began to be introduced into the construction industry. Consequently, the use of this type of technology has many advantages for the project participants. In addition to savings due to early detection of errors and solving them and better transparency over the course of the project, all participants have one advantage in common - better communication. The successful completion of the project will only be achieved if the project team cooperates with each other in a coordinated and efficient manner, which can be achieved by using the BIM environment. Despite the fact that it is still a relatively unestablished approach, it already has many advantages, which will become even more noticeable with time. Consequently, BIM will in all likelihood one day be a global standard in most of the construction companies. While writing the thesis, the primarily emphasis was on the subject of Total Quality Management (TQM), which includes both quality assurance during the process itself and the control of finished products. With that in mind, we focused on the entire life cycle of less demanding buildings in the sense of finding prospective areas where the use of construction information modeling would contribute to the progress in the construction industry.
