Abstract
Kofein je močan stimulans, ki vpliva na centralni živčni sistem in presnovne procese, zaradi česar je ena najbolj raziskanih snovi za izboljšanje telesne zmogljivosti. S svojim stimulativnim učinkom lahko vpliva na parametre moči in vzdržljivosti, kar vodi do boljših športnih rezultatov. Pravilno uživanje kofeina je zelo pomembno za učinkovito izboljšanje telesne zmogljivosti in zmanjšanje tveganja negativnih stranskih učinkov. Zato je izdelava optimalnega protokola za dopolnjevanje s kofeinom ključnega pomena za športnike. Namen magistrskega dela je bil opraviti pregled domače in tuje literature na temo učinki kofeina na moč in vzdržljivost, ter širši kontekst uporabe kofeina v športu. V magistrski nalogi smo preučevali učinke kofeina na moč in vzdržljivost, ter njegov potencial za izboljšanje športne uspešnosti. Predstavili smo fiziološke mehanizme delovanja kofeina, širši kontekst njegove uporabe v športu, in dejavniki, ki vplivajo na njegovo učinkovitost. Pregledali smo raziskave, ki so preučevale vpliv kofeina na specifične parametre, povezane z močjo ali vzdržljivostjo, ter neposredne učinke na zdravje in psihološke dejavnike, ki prav tako vplivajo na športno uspešnost. Smo izdelali optimalni protokol za dopolnjevanje s kofeinom in naredili splošne in športno specifične smernice za uživanja kofeina za športnike. Ugotovili smo, da lahko kofein značilno poveča telesno zmogljivost, saj izboljša moč in vzdržljivost. Poleg akutnih izboljšav zaradi svojega stimulativnega učinka, kofein vpliva na druge psihološke in zdravstvene dejavnike, ki lahko posredno izboljšajo športni rezultat. Vendar je ustrezen protokol uživanja kofeina bistvenega pomena za povečanje njegove učinkovitosti in preprečevanje negativnih stranskih učinkov. Magistrsko delo lahko predstavlja teoretično osnovo in poda smernice za bodoče raziskave, vezane na kofein in njegovo uporabo v športu. Magistrsko delo je uporabno za športnike, prehranske svetovalce in trenerje, kot praktična usmeritev za optimizacijo uporabe kofeina in izdelavo boljših prehranskih protokolov za izboljšanje športnih dosežkov.

Title:The effects of caffeine on strength and endurance
Abstract:
Caffeine is a powerful stimulant that affects the central nervous system and metabolic processes, making it one of the most researched substances for improving physical performance. With its stimulating effect, it can impact strength and endurance parameters, which leads to better sports achievements. Correct caffeine consumption is very important to effectively improve physical performance and reduce the risk of negative side effects. Therefore, developing an optimal caffeine supplementation protocol is critical for athletes. The purpose of the master's thesis was to review national and international literature on the effects of caffeine on strength and endurance, as well as the broader context of its use in sports. In the master's thesis, we studied the effects of caffeine on strength and endurance, as well as its potential for improving sports performance. We presented the physiological mechanisms of caffeine's action, the broader context of its use in sports, and the factors that influence its effectiveness. We reviewed research examining the effects of caffeine on specific parameters related to strength or endurance, as well as direct effects on health and psychological factors that also affect athletic performance. We created an optimal protocol for caffeine supplementation and provided general and sport-specific guidelines for caffeine consumption for athletes. We found that caffeine can significantly increase physical performance by improving strength and endurance. In addition to acute improvements due to its stimulating effect, caffeine affects other psychological and health related factors that can indirectly improve sports performance. However, proper caffeine consumption protocol is essential to maximize its effectiveness and prevent negative side effects. The master's thesis can provide a theoretical basis and guidelines for future research related to caffeine and its use in sports. The master's thesis is useful for athletes, nutritional consultants and coaches, as a practical guide for optimizing the use of caffeine and creating better nutritional protocols to improve sports performance.
