In the master's thesis, we will deal with violin orchestral solos of the 19th and 20th centuries. First, we will write about the development of the violin and orchestra before the Romantic period, mentioning the first violin solos and the most important composers before the Romantic period, both symphonic and operatic. We will delve into the period of musical romanticism, the development of the orchestra and new musical genres, as well as the creation of the most important composers in the field of symphonic, opera and ballet music. We will mention all the new musical directions and violin solos that the 20th century brought. We will analyze the structure of violin solos from the time of Ludwig van Beethoven onwards in symphonies, symphonic poems, symphonic suites, operas, ballets, and other compositions. We will analyze the largest and most demanding violin orchestral solos in more detail. Finally, we will talk to Slovenian violinists who have performed solos on concert stages, especially about their opinions, experiences, ideas for interpretation, tips for preparing solos for concerts and auditions, and in general about the importance of the position of concertmaster.
