The master's thesis is divided into two parts: the theoretical and the practical. The theoretical part begins by presenting basic terms and definitions related to railways and public railway infrastructure. It also covers investment documentation, possible sources of financing, investments in transport infrastructure in Slovenia, and key legislation. It outlines the most commonly used methods specified by the Regulation on a Uniform Methodology for the Preparation and Processing of Investment Documentation in Public Finance, as well as a manual for evaluating the justification of investments.
The practical part presents the selected project, which is the upgrade of the Sevnica railway station. It describes the project's costs and benefits and shows the calculation of the investment valuation in accordance with the theoretical bases and starting points.
