Abstract

Title:CONTAINER TERMINAL PLANNING AND GREEN LOGISTICS
Abstract:
We can all contribute to sustainability and a greener future, because it starts with individual. The purpose of the Master's thesis is to present the guidelines of green logistics and how they affect planning of container terminals. In my work, I will limit myself to green logistics, how it can contribute to a greener business and how it can affect container terminals, what challenges terminal operators face and what green practices are in the logistics sector. The thesis also presents four ports, two European and two Asian, which are considered one of the greenest and most automated ports in the world. In the last chapter of my thesis, a SWOT and TOWS analysis of the development of container terminals were presented. At the ends of thesis I made also an anonymous survey with which I wanted to gain an insight how do Slovenian logistics companies input into green logistics practices and which practices are they using for being more sustainable.
