Abstract
Diplomsko delo se ukvarja z delovanjem družbenih omrežij, predvsem Facebooka kot vodilnega družbenega omrežja za odjemanje novic, in mladimi kot digitalnimi nomadi, ki večino svojih novic prejmejo iz družbenih omrežij. Tako so podvrženi novim medijskim praksam, ki jih prinaša digitalna kultura in nevarnostim, ki jih prinašata hitrost ter količina novic na družbenih medijih. Cilj dela je ugotavljanje nivoja konzumpcije novic med mladimi, odnosa do novic in implikacij, ki jih novosti ter nove interakcije z novicami na družbenih omrežjih prinašajo. To ugotavlja s kvalitativnim pristopom skozi fokusne skupine z mladimi med 19 in 26 let. Glavne ugotovitve so, da mladi dobro obvladajo družbena omrežja in se tudi zavedajo pasti, ki jih prinašajo, vendar pogosto tega ne jemljejo negativno in jih raje izkoriščajo za pridobivanje več zabavnih novic, saj je prav zabavnost tisto, kar jih najbolj vodi pri izbiri vsebin. Pogoste so nekonvencionalne prakse interakcije z novicami, ki so posledica algoritmov družbenih omrežij in še dodatno napajajo moč algoritma, ki narekuje več klikov s čim manjšimi stroški, kar negativno vpliva na novinarski poklic in na kvaliteto novic, to pa vodi v nižjo informiranost družbe.

Title:Interaction with news on Facebook among young people
Abstract:
This paper focuses on mechanisms within social media, primarily Facebook as the lead social site for news consumption and on young people as digital nomads, who get most of their news from social media. As such they are influenced by new media practices brought on by digital culture and the dangers brought ob by speed and abundance of news on social media. The goal of the paper is to gauge the level of news consumption amoung young people, their relationship to news and the implication presented by new interaction with news on social media. This is done by qualitative research with focus groups among 19 to 26 year olds. The main findings suggest that young people are well versed in social media and realise the traps that social media bring, but often do not see it as a negative and use it for their benefit - aquiring more entertaining news, because the entertainment value is at the foremost when it comes to their news selection. Often they use unconventional media practices when interacting with news, which are a product of social media algorithms and only increase the power of the algorithm, which requires more clicks with lowest cost possible. This negatively impacts journalists and news quality which in leads to less informed society.
