Abstract
Magistrsko delo predstavlja položaj otrok priseljencev v slovenskih javnih vrtcih, odnose in stališča pedagoških delavcev do njih in njihovo vključevanje v vzgojo in izobraževanje.

Title:Attitudes of teaching staff towards immigrant children in Slovenian public kindergartens
Abstract:
The master's thesis presents the situation of immigrant children in Slovenian public kindergartens, the attitudes of educators towards them and their inclusion in upbringing and education. In the theoretical part, statistical data on immigrants in Slovenia and the causes of immigration are presented. The situation of immigrant children is analyzed in more detail, their integration into the education system together with the documents that regulate this and what role the views of educational professionals play in this. In addition, interculturality and multiculturalism in kindergartens and the importance of inclusion are presented. In the empirical part, I examined the attitudes towards children with a migrant background that prevail among teachers in Slovenian public kindergartens and how these attitudes are expressed, the teachers' intercultural skills and their awareness of the importance of multicultural education. 180 preschool teachers and 11 heads of Slovenian public kindergartens were included in the study. The results showed that the majority of educators have a positive attitude towards children with a migrant background, which is also reflected in their communication with them and indicates a developed intercultural ability. However, it turned out that the respondents' awareness of the importance of multicultural education is weak, as only a few principals implement it in an organized form, although they consider it important for the knowledge of pedagogical professionals.
