Abstract
Gozdne površine v primestnem prostoru opravljajo več socialnih in ekoloških funkcij, njihovo delovanje je zaradi urbanizacije in drugih vplivov človeka ogroženo. Območje Jarškega in Tomačevskega proda leži na Ljubljanskem polju, geografski razvoj močno zaznamuje reka Sava.

Abstract:
Forest land in the suburban area are performing a number of social and ecological functions, their operation is threatened due to urbanization and other human impacts. Area of Jarški and Tomačevski prod lies on the Ljubljansko polje, characterized by strong geographical development of the Sava River. In the study area of 398.39 ha is a blend of different land use. Forest areas represent 43% of the total area (172.37 ha). The forest stand consists of four basic types of which are most representative mixed stands of red pine, oak and Norway spruce. The analysis also included a non forested areas with patches of trees, hedges and solitary trees on the surface of 39.27ha, consisting primarily of deciduous trees. Function analysis showed that both in terms of area and degree of accent ecological forest functions are prevailing over social functions. Of the social functions in addition to hygene-medical functions primarily are important recreational and aesthetic functions. The study is describing the main problems of forest land, ie. gravel, illegal dumps and water coverage. It is characterized by fragmentationof forest property with a lot of co-owners, making it impossible to integrated forest management. The study puts forward suggestions for improving the functioning of ecological and social functions, especially recreational and aesthetic functions.
