Abstract
V sodelovanju z občino sem izbrala lokacijo in program središča trajnostnega turizma v mestu Ponta do Sol.

Title:Antão : conceptual design of the sustainable tourism centre on Caboverdean Island Santo Antão
Abstract:
Through my master’s thesis, I examine sustainable forms of tourism as an alternative to mass tourism. I focus on tourism in Cape Verde, where I explore existing tourism models and possibilities for sustainable tourism development. While writing my thesis, I spent three months in Cape Verde, where I collaborated with the municipality of Ribeira Grande on the island of Santo Antão, to identify the location and the program of a sustainable tourism center in Ponta do Sol. The center serves as a focal point for travelers, providing a place to relax, learn about local culture, and explore the island. In my design, I follow the three pillars of sustainable tourism development (environmental preservation, economic growth, and social well-being) while taking into account local principles of construction and town planning. The project is located on the edge of the city next to an abandoned airport, and thus, my thesis also addresses the urban edge and the connection between the city and the park I designed on the site. The architectural design is divided into two parts: revitalizing the fish market and constructing a new building adjacent to it. The new facility provides accommodation for travelers, a café, a reception, and a multifunctional space. The old fish market building becomes a market for local produce and can be transformed into a gallery, a concert hall, or a lecture hall. In my design, I prioritize the use of natural and locally available materials and sustainable building techniques.
