The desire for a deeper understanding of the literature of compositions with saxophone and violin and its development arose in 2020, when I first started playing in the trio Setsuna with violinist, Jelena Pejić and pianist Ivan Kukurić. The lack of repertoire for this trio and the desire to develop and get to know the chamber ensemble with saxophone and violin and its repertoire developed into the theme of my master's thesis. In my master's thesis, I will describe the emergence of chamber music and its development through history, origin and development of the saxophone, and I will briefly describe the selected chamber compositions with saxophone and violin in various ensembles and their composers. The compositions will be organized by tables with the name of the composer, the title of the piece and its movements, the name of the label and the year of publication of the composition, the duration of the composition, the studio recording (if any), musicians performing on the recording and the type of ensamble for which the piece is written. Towards the end, I will talk to the slovenian composer Gašper Muženič and belgian saxophonist and composer Simon Diricq about their composing process for saxophone and violin and their opinion on chamber music with saxophone and violin. I hope that this thesis will help not only me, but also other musicians who would like to learn about chamber music with saxophone and violin, and that my master's thesis will help as a introduction to this.
