Abstract

Title:Models for planning non-formal adult education programmes
Abstract:
Educational programme planning is one of the key activities in adult education, which contributes to the creation of quality education programmes. When designing programmes, the planners can help themselves with various theoretical models that provide insight into the overall planning process, help them point out the right questions to ask, set a framework for addressing the necessary elements of planning, and provide support for solving dilemmas. There are many pre-existing theories and theoretical models dispersed throughout the literature in the field of planning. Comparisons between the models are very narrow and surface-oriented and mostly do not offer generally transferable conclusions and in-depth thinking about the meaning and the use of the models in planning. The research was made to leverage the potential of existing theoretical knowledge about the models by collecting models for planning adult education programmes in one place, and conducting in-depth analysis to determine their true value. This will enable educational programme planners to truly focus on the real needs of participants as well as broader society, consequently developing good and useful educational programmes for adults transferable to practice and even improve it.
