Abstract
Podatke smo kvalitativno vsebinsko analizirali.

Title:Musical activities in persons with neurological disorders : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Due to the impairment of certain bodily functions, people with neurological diseases can have problems of performing everyday activities and maintaining social contacts. Performing occupations has a beneficial effect on human health, well-being and quality of life. One of the occupations can also be music. Purpose: To investigate how people with neurological disorders experience musical activities in terms of engaging in occupation, what they mean to them and the effects of performing of musical activities has. We were interested in what encourages or hinders them to participate and whether they have adapted the performance of these activities in any way because of the illness. Methods: A qualitative research was conducted, during which four people with various neurological disorders who are musically active were interviewed. The data were analysed qualitatively. Results: From the content analysis of the data, we formed three main categories: experience of performing musical activities/occupations, contribution of musical activities/occupations, and incentives, challenges and solutions in performing musical activities after illness. Our participants attached great importance to musical activities and described them as their leisure activity or occupation. The musical activities help them to cope with illness and recovery, improve well-being, cognition, speech and mobility. Problems and obstacles arose during the implementation of the activities due to disruptions, but they were able to successfully solve these by making adjustments. Discussion and conclusion: Music has a positive effect on several areas of an individual's functioning, so learning the importance of participation in musical activities/occupations is very important from an occupational therapy perspective. When treating of a person with neurological disorders, it would therefore be useful to include occupational therapists that could help to adapt the performance of a musical activity, advise the use of assistive devices for easier use and adapt the environment. It would be necessary to investigate the effects on the course of treatment and acquisition through the implementation of musical activities/occupations in different areas, not only for people with neurological disorders, and to include musical activities more frequently in occupational therapy treatment.
