Companies need for their successful business operations a lot of diverse information that has to be quickly accessible, of high quality and, of course, up to date. Due to the weaknesses of printed media that have difficulties in achieving such goals, digital contents acquire an even more important role. The development of information technology and web services has brought these contents to the fingertips of users/companies. The goal of this paper was to construct a structural outlay of a web portal in a specific branch that would satisfy the needs of wood companies for diverse information and evaluate the current condition about how they are acquiring such information and how successful they are with it. We have found out that there are very few web pages that offer specialised information to companies or individuals, when even these pages are due to their inadequateness not helpful. With the suggested structural layout of a web portal in a specific branch we have proven that it is possible to offer all the important information in one spot and thus ensure a wholesome informational support to the wood companies.
