In Slovenian sales centers we can buy various products from deep preserved wood. These products shall be used in fourth hazard class (in ground contact). We prepared ten randomly selected samples to determine penetration and retention of preservation and for testing resistance to wood decay fungi. Samples were made from spruce and Scots pine which usually represents problems in deep wood preservation. Penetration was determined according to standard SIST EN 351-1, 2007. Required retention was determined according to the document NWPC from 2015. For 12 weeks the samples were exposed to two decay fungi Poria moticola and Gloeophyllum trabeum. Sufficient penetration corresponded five samples from ten. Required retention (16 kg/m3) were not found in any of the samples. Also none of the samples did not show any resistance to Poria monticola. In case of exposere to Gloeophyllum trabeum only five samples corresponded to requirements. Based on the results, we can conclude that neither sample meets the requirements of more than two of the four criteria. Final conclusion is that the randomly selected samples purchased in retail are bad preserved and does not meet the requirements and purposes for which they are sold.
