When using laser cutting in the processing of wood, it is necessary to find a compromise between the quality of the treated surface, the speed of processing, and the economic aspects of production. In this thesis, the influence of laser cutting parameters for cutting poplar veneer plywood was studied. Three different thicknesses (10 mm, 5 mm and 4 mm) of poplar plywood boards were cut at various speeds and cutting forces of the laser in order to determine optimal parameters for the quality of cutting. As a starting point, three intensity levels of the laser beam (20 W, 40 W, 60 W) and the different cutting speeds (from 6 mm/s to 56 mm/s) were chosen. Based on measurements of the depth and width of cut and of calculation of the cutting angle (tapered edges) and separation energy, we determined the optimum speed and power of laser cutting for the selected thickness of poplar veneer plywood. For 10 mm veneer plywood, they are 20 W and 6 mm/s. For 5 mm veneer plywood, the optimal parameters of laser cutting are 20 W and 16 mm/s. For 4 mm veneer plywood, the optimal parameters of laser cutting are 20 W and 20 mm/s.
