Abstract
Cilj je bil določiti datum gradnje oz. obnove določenih prostorov v gradu, v katerih so konstrukcijske in slogovne značilnosti nakazovale različna obdobja in načine vgradnje lesa.

Title:Dendrochronological dating of castle Pišece : graduation thesis - higher professional studies
Abstract:
During the restoration on Pišece castle, in cooperation with the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Slovenia, the Novo mesto regional unit and the Table Joinery Dobrina, we have determined the areas for the obtainment of wood samples for dendrochronological research. The aim was to determine the date of construction or reconstruction of certain castle rooms, in which the structural and stylistic features indicated different periods and methods of wood installation. We have taken 104 samples for tree-ring dating, of which there were 41 samples of oak (Quercus sp.), 26 samples of silver fir wood (Abies alba), 13 samples of sweet chestnut wood (Castanea sativa), 14 samples of Norway spruce wood (Picea abies), 7 samples of beechwood (Fagus sylvatica) and one sample of elm wood (Ulmus sp.). We managed to date 82 samples that helped us estimate the year of restoration or construction of different sections of the castle. The samples for the dendrochronological dating were taken with the method of drilling, as well as the method of sawing. According to the results obtained, we have come to the conclusion that the castle had been reconstructed in at least three major stages. The first major phase of reconstruction took place between 1550 and 1600, the second between 1600 and 1700 and the third between 1750 and 1800. We assume that the wood, which had been felled after the year 1800, was installed during maintenance work.
