Abstract
Bobri so pomembni akterji pri vzpostavitvi novih habitatov in preoblikovanju vodnih površin. Njihova ustvarjalnost in interakcija z okoljem ne le oblikujeta edinstvene kosisteme, ampak tudi ponujata dragocene priložnosti za otroško raziskovanje in dojemanje narave. Otroci, ki se srečajo z bobri in njihovim vplivom na okolje, lahko razvijajo spoštovanje do narave ter razumevanje ekosistemov, kar bogati njihovo izkušnjo sveta okoli njih. Ravno zato je tako pomembno, da se že zgodaj začnejo zavedati pomembnosti varovanja bobrov. V ta namen sem izvedla praktično delavnico z otroki, starimi od 6 do 10 let, z namenom poznavanja bobra, njegovega habitata ter pomembnosti le-tega za ekosistem, hkrati pa opozorila na pogosta uničevanja bobrišč zaradi nepoznavanja in nerazumevanja. Podatke sem dobila preko vprašalnika, ki so ga otroci izpolnili na začetku in koncu delavnice, praktičnega dela na terenu ob bobrišču ter končnega izdelka, ki so ga otroci na koncu delavnice izdelali kot prikaz na novo pridobljenega znanja. Preko risb bobra in njegovega habitata ter asociacij, ki so jih imeli učenci na besedo bober, sem preverila poznavanje te ogrožene živalske vrste. Pri opazovanem vzorcu se je izkazalo, da je praktična delavnica z delom na terenu prinesla bolj obsežno in poglobljeno znanje o bobru, končni izdelek pa je dokazal, da otroci vidijo pozitiven pomen in vpliv bobra v okolju ter možnost sobivanja človeka in te živali kljub nekaterim izzivom. Takšna delavnica je lahko uporabna tudi za ostale osnovne šole, ki se nahajajo v okolici bobrišč.

Title:Children's understanding of beavers and the importance of their protection
Abstract:
Beavers are important actors in establishing new habitats and transforming water surfaces. Their creativity and interaction with the environment not only shape unique ecosystems but also offer valuable opportunities for children's exploration and perception of nature. Children who encounter beavers and their impact on the environment can develop respect for nature and understanding of ecosystems, which enriches their experience of the world around them. This is precisely why it is so important that they become aware of the importance of protecting beavers at an early age. For this purpose, I conducted a practical workshop with children aged 6 to 10, with the aim of learning about the biology of the beaver, its habitat, and its importance for the ecosystem, while at the same time drawing attention to the frequent destruction of beaver habitats due to ignorance and misunderstanding. I collected the data through a questionnaire that the children filled out at the beginning and end of the workshop, practical work in the field near the beaver farm, and the final product that the children produced at the end of the workshop as a demonstration of their newly acquired knowledge. Through the drawings of the beaver, its habitat, and the associations the students had with the word beaver, I checked the knowledge of this endangered animal species. In the case of the observed sample, it turned out that the practical workshop with outside classroom brought more extensive and in-depth knowledge about the beaver, and the final product proved that the children see the positive meaning and influence of the beaver in the environment and the possibility of coexistence between man and this animal despite some challenges. Such workshop can also be useful for other primary schools located near beaver dam.
