Digital era has brought new challenges to archives in managing materials. Archives need to combat large quantities of materials that need to be recorded and processed. General legal acts in Slovenia related to archiving also follow these recent changes. This shows the need for an informational solution that enables optimal data processing in archives and addresses the shortcomings of existing solutions using modern technologies.
The theoretical part of the thesis involves a literature review method and an examination of archival legislation in Slovenia, accompanied by insights from employees in the field of archiving. Additionally, personal knowledge gained from working in an archive is utilized. Based on the review of the current solutions, the second part proposes an informational solution in the form of a mobile application employing modern technologies. The technologies used are described for a better understanding of the work. The implementation of the solution is detailed in a chapter that provides a closer look at how our solution works and its appearance.
Research has yielded findings regarding a more user-friendly use and improvement of the current informational solution. Employees at the Directorate for Infrastructure's archive perform their tasks more efficiently and agree that the application is more user-friendly. The research highlights the shortcomings of existing solutions and possibilities for improvement, addressing the research questions regarding new solution.
Proposed solution demonstrates a practical contribution to the archives of the public sector, which could be expanded to the private sector. Users gain a mobile application that addresses the issue of accessibility of informational solutions in less accessible archives. The carefully planned application brings numerous improvements and functionalities necessary for optimal work in archives. With code adaptability, the solution can also be implemented in various archives.
