To achieve high standards in pharmacy, precise and quality washing of process equipment is important. This is achieved with special industrial washing machines and customized washing racks on which parts of the process equipment are washed. The washing racks are specially adapted to each piece of process equipment, thereby ensuring a highquality of washing. However, precise 3D models of the wash items are needed to manufacture the
washing racks. On actual wash items, we compared the current method of creating 3D models of wash items, which is based on 3D modeling and 3D scanning. Based on the results, we concluded that the scanning method is more suitable only for washing items of complex shapes. However, the scanning method is not suitable for replacing the modeling method completely.
