Analiza povezanosti igralne uspešnosti in telesnih značilnosti ter gibalne učinkovitosti pri igralcih ameriškega nogometa : magistrsko delo

Ameriški nogomet je najbolj znan in priljubljen ekipni šport v Združenih državah Amerike. V Sloveniji in na področju bivše Jugoslavije ni veliko ekip in tekmovalcev, ki se ukvarjajo s tem športom. Zato je bil namen tega magistrskega dela pripraviti prvi raziskovalni prispevek o ameriškem nogometu v slovenskem jeziku. S tem namenom smo preučili telesne značilnosti in gibalno učinkovitost najuspešnejših NFL igralcev ter ugotovili njihovo povezanost z igralno uspešnostjo. V raziskavo smo vključili 200 preizkušancev, ki so sodelovali na izboru NFL od leta 2015 do 2018. Za vsakega od izborov NFL smo po merilih igralne uspešnosti izbrali 50 preizkušancev, ki so bili najuspešnejši pri izvedbi testne baterije NFL. Podatki o telesnih značilnostih in zmogljivostih ter igralni uspešnosti smo pridobili aprila 2023 s spletne strani Pro Football Reference (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/). Telesne značilnosti so bile opredeljene z dvema spremenljivkama, ki sta jih predstavljali telesna višina in teža. Gibalna učinkovitost je bila opredeljena s šestimi spremenljivkami, ki so jih predstavljali testi testne baterije NFL za merjenje gibalnih sposobnosti. Igralna uspešnost je bila opredeljena s trinajstimi spremenljivkami za osem igralnih mest. Statistično analizo podatkov smo izvedli v programu IBM SPSS 25 (SPSS Inc., Armonk, NY, ZDA). Opisne spremenljivke smo prikazali s frekvencami, številske pa s povprečji in standardnimi odkloni. Povezanost spremenljivk za opredelitev telesnih značilnosti in gibalne učinkovitosti z igralno uspešnostjo smo ugotavljali s Spearmanovimi korelacijskimi koeficienti. Njihove povezanosti smo interpretirali po Leskošku (2017). Statistično značilne razlike telesnih značilnosti in gibalnih učinkovitosti ter uspešnosti med preizkušanci za osem igralnih mest smo preverili z enovzorčnim t-testom. Rezultate smo ovrednotili kot statistično značilne pri stopnji tveganja 5 %. Statistična analiza spremenljivk je razkrila nekatere zanimive statistično značilne povezanosti telesnih značilnosti in gibalne učinkovitosti z igralno uspešnostjo igralcev ameriškega nogometa NFL, ki bodo nedvomno zanimive tako za ožjo kot širšo strokovno javnost.

• Title: Analysis of player performance and body characteristics and movement efficiency in american football players

Abstract

American football is the most well-known and popular team sport in the United States of America. In Slovenia and the former Yugoslav region, there aren't many teams and players engaged in this sport. Therefore, the purpose of this master's thesis was to prepare the first research contribution on American football in the Slovenian language. With this aim, we examined the physical characteristics and motor efficiency of the most successful NFL players and determined their correlation with playing performance. We included 200 participants in the study who participated in the NFL selection from 2015 to 2018. For each NFL selection, we selected 50 participants based on playing performance criteria, who were the most successful in performing the NFL test battery. We obtained data on physical characteristics, performance, and playing performance in April 2023 from the Pro Football Reference website. Physical characteristics were defined by two variables representing height and weight. Motor efficiency was defined by six variables representing tests from the NFL test battery for measuring motor abilities. Playing performance was defined by thirteen variables for eight playing positions. Statistical analysis of the data was conducted using IBM SPSS 25 (SPSS Inc., Armonk, NY, USA). Descriptive variables were presented with frequencies, while numerical variables were presented with means and standard deviations. The correlation between variables defining physical characteristics and motor efficiency with playing performance was examined using Spearman's correlation coefficients. Their correlation was interpreted according to Leskošek (2017). Statistically significant differences in physical characteristics, motor efficiency, and performance among participants for eight playing positions were tested using a one-sample t-test. The results were evaluated as statistically significant at a 5% risk level. Statistical analysis of variables revealed some interesting statistically significant correlations between physical characteristics and motor efficiency with playing performance of NFL American football players, which will undoubtedly be of interest to both narrower and wider professional audiences.
