The use of membrane process systems for the preparation of drinking water based on seawater desalination is in intensive development on the global market. Membrane technologies are developing rapidly, but they are limited to operation at high pressures. Desalination by reverse osmosis takes place due to the establishment of a pressure in the system that is greater than the osmotic pressure. In the work, based on the reviewed literature and the state of available technologies, we focused on the design of a membrane process system for the preparation of drinking water from seawater. We focused on the possibility of reducing the working pressure and noise level in the operation of a compact membrane process system for the preparation of drinking water from seawater for individual use. In the work, we discussed various system upgrades, such as diafiltration and the possibility of installing compact pumps for membrane process systems with reverse osmosis.
