The recurring images and narrative techniques present in the most successful novellas of Bogomir Magajna are analysed. These works, which have received little attention from Slovene literary studies, present the hero by entering his subconscious, thus providing opportunities for the depiction of hidden triggers for hallucinations, irrational behaviour and the apparently unclarified breadth of human fate.
