Funding of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) brings benefits to the municipality
in the broadest sense of the word, as it ensures the provision of community services
at the local level. These are services that, in addition to NGOs, are also provided by
public institutions, public enterprises, etc. Financing NGOs provides services that
benefit the municipality or its residents, thereby implementing the municipality's
policies and vision.
The thesis addresses the topic of financing NGOs, presenting NGOs and their
connection to the municipality, their main characteristics, legal forms of operation,
taxation, etc., in the theoretical part. It particularly focuses on their sources of funding,
as these are crucial for the functioning of NGOs. In the empirical or research part of
the thesis, the aim was to determine how much funding from the municipal budget of
the municipality of Dobrova Polhov Gradec was allocated to NGOs in the years 20172021
for various areas of activity, and which topics or projects were most represented.
The thesis uses descriptive methods, deductive methods, and the method of analyzing
acquired data. Based on a simple statistical analysis, financial data from the mentioned
municipality were analyzed in the research part to determine which areas of NGO
activity were most funded or received the highest funds. Analysis of public tenders
revealed which projects/topics were most represented or funded in the municipality of
Dobrova Polhov Gradec. The results showed that in all observed years, the most
municipal funds were allocated to firefighting or the fire brigade, followed by the sports
and cultural sectors.
