The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to create a three-dimensional (3D) digital concept car
with 3D modeling, which is then presented as a final product in a 3D animation.
The thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part covers an
introduction to automotive design. The techniques and tools, that are being in the concept car
production process today, from sketching to digital prototyping are presented. The power and
widespread use of 3D animation in various industries is also presented, with an emphasis on
concept visualizations and advertising in the automotive industry.
The practical part consists of two parts. In the first part of the practical work, the tools and
materials used for the development of the concept are presented. The second part covers the
entire development of the concept car from reference gathering and sketching to the final
creation of a 3D model with textures. Next, the process of making a 3D animation is described,
which includes rigging the model, its animation, rendering and editing the final video.
The final results of the thesis are a 3D model of the car and its visualization in the form of a 3D
animation.
