Reality shows can be defined as television shows or programs where the participats are ordinary people and celebrities or both and have to go through a series of real-life incidents or scenarios. The content of reality shows changes with the times as viewers want to know more about the participants and the participants are exposed to the world more. In this study, I made an attempt to find out how society perceives reality shows. Reality programs, which are no longer the exclusive part of television, are gaining the upper hand in Serbia. The aim of the paper is to investigate and describe the reactions of viewers to reality television in Serbia, starting from the assumption that these reactions are negative, considering the negative impact of reality shows on society itself, young people and children. Using the qualitative method of content analysis and their impact on the respondents, I will determine the attitude of the respondents towards the reality content. The results will indicate whether the selected group of respondents treat reality shows with ignorance or take some kind of uncritical attitude, thus, as such type of viewer, they create a suitable ground for the further development and maintenance of the so-called reality culture.
