Abstract

Abstract:
At two locations on the plot of the Intensive Forest Monitoring Programme in Slovenia at Brdo pri Kranju from 30 April to 23 October 2005, we found using the Theysohnr pheromone traps for eight-toothed spruce bark beetles (Ips typographus) and six-toothed spruce bark beetles (Pityogenes chalcographus) beside the two aforementioned species also some other species of insects (additional catch). At each location, there were three traps. The first one contained the pheromone Pheropraxr, the second one the pheromone Chalcopraxr, but the third one was without the pheromone for a control. In comparison with the data gathered in Slovenia, we found a relatively low abudance of the Ips typographus and a relatively high abudance of the Pityogenes chalcographus, which was the result of the ratio of phases of forest habitat types (presence of younger developmental stages of Norway spruce). The average monthly temperature is linked to the amount of monthly catch. It increases proportionally with the average monthly temperature. Considering rainfall, theamount of the catch of both species decreases with the increase of the rainfall and vice versa. We also found more species at the location, which wasmore exposed to the sun. At the additional catch, we found members of 22 different families of beetles (Coleoptera). The following families were the most frequent Ostomidae, Elateridae, Staphylinidae, Nitidulidae and Histeridae. We found mostly the Nemosoma elongatum species, which were followed by the species of the genus Formica (Hymenoptera).
