Abstract
Izračunane temperature komponent smo primerjali z meritvami temperatur komponent elektromotorja.

Title:Simplified FEM computation of temperature in components of an electric motor
Abstract:
In the process of obtaining the project, it is necessary to reach an agreement with potential buyers regarding the required electric motor characteristics. In the initial stages of the project, the suitability of electric motor design is verified by use of numerical simulations, based on finite element method. The purpose of numerical computing is to replace expensive and time-consuming testing. The electrical power steering motor (EPS) is subjected to temperature cycles while winding resistance changes according to motor temperature. According to the specification of the customer, coil, stator tooth, bearing, housing, and heat sink temperatures need to be obtained. The goal of the master's thesis is to optimize the computing time of numerical simulations by simplifying motor geometry and reducing the degrees of freedom while the calculated temperatures of motor components must be within 10% regarding measured temperatures. Using numerical simulations electric motor component temperatures were calculated when the electric motor is represented by three-dimensional, 1/12 of three-dimensional and two-dimensional model. The maximum temperature gradient was observed in the radial direction. Maximum temperature deviation is observed in the case of the two-dimensional model as a result of model simplification.
