Abstract
V raziskavo smo vključili naslednje javne zelene površine: Šolski park Karla Huguesa v Poreču in štiri parke v Pulju – Park kralja Zvonimirja, Valerijski park, park Monte Zaro in Pomorski park. Proučili smo vlogo parkov v preteklosti, z orodjem Google Maps smo locirali parke na območju, jih obiskali in v njih popisali rastlinske vrste.

Title:Horticultural arrangement of Istrian gardens: then and now.
Abstract:
Parks have been of great importance in human society since ancient history. Istrian parks, as well as other green areas, are rich in plant species. Parks were enriched with plants mostly during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, and later they were further embellished during the rule of the Italian Republic. The following parks were included in our research: Karlo Hugues Park in Poreč and four parks in Pula – King Zvonimir’s Park, Valeria Park, Monte Zaro, and Marine Park. We used literature data to study the role of parks in the past. We used Google Maps to locate the parks, which we visited and listed the plants in all areas. Since the parks were first designated, more than 200 species have been planted. Our research showed that the number of plants in the parks has greatly decreased. During the period of maintenance, a few plants were added, which indicates an attempt at maintaining their reputation. Based on the Galk method, the condition of plants in the parks was assessed. Although they are fewer in number, most are generally in a relatively good condition. It would be advisable to improve maintenance of some plants in these parks, especially older, historically important trees. King Zvonimir’s Park and Monte Zaro are superior to other studied parks in terms of maintenance and plant quality.
