This thesis focuses on the organization of maintenance and protection of state roads in the Pomurje region. At the beginning, the division of roads based on ownership is described, followed by the legal framework regulating road maintenance and the presentation of concession area 7. Next, the most important tasks performed by maintenance services for roads on main and regional routes are covered. Finally, the impact of materials used for road spreading in winter and the environmental issues arising from them are explored.
The purpose of regular road maintenance is to keep existing roads safe and usable for transport. Roads should be maintained on a regular and ongoing basis, as that is the only way to keep them in good condition.
It is conclued that maintenance services are significantly constrained by the availability of financial resources, adversely affecting road maintenance. Based on data on road salting, it has been discovered that roads in our region are salted in relatively small quantities, and therefore road salting does not have a significant impact on the environment.
