A process of obtaining loading spectra for the suspension bars of a Formula Student racing car is described. Based on the actual formula model, a mechanical model was created to encompass all essential characteristics of the car, such as the suspension mechanism and the characteristics of the included components. An accuracy of the mechanical model was determined by comparing the results of simulations with numerical calculations. Using the known lifespan of the racing car, simulations were set-up to determine the loading spectra that occur on the suspension bars of the car. The calculated results allow for the identification the of test parameters for the validation of the bars fatigue life.
