Mala Loka, Idejna zasnova prenove poslovno-hotelskega kompleksa v Škofji Loki

Arhitektura in arhitekti so na pragu pomembnega vprašanja - kaj bo v prihodnosti njihova naloga? Magistrska naloga teži k razmisleku, ali je smisel arhitekture zares le brezglava gradnja ali se bomo morda kmalu morali osredotočiti na obnovo in preporod obstoječih stavb. Ključno vprašanje obravnavam v kontekstu prenove hotelsko-poslovnega kompleksa v Škofji Loki. Mesto se, tako kot mnoga v Sloveniji, sooča z degradiranimi območji v njihovih centrih ali bližnji okolici. Ta območja ogrožajo in kazijo njihov ugled in estetiko, hkrati pa ne prinašajo družbenih koristi. Najbolj problematično v Škofji Loki je območje Kapucinskega predmestja s kompleksom Transturist, ki je zaradi svoje lege na očeh vsakogar, ki vstopa v mesto. Kompleks ima tri stolpiče, ki jih povezujeta skupno pritličje in klet. Prvi zgrajen stolpič je bil Hotel Transturist, ki so ga po neštetih vzponih in padcih zaprli in ga po 15 letih razpadanja prodali v zasebno last. Preostala dva stolpiča pa naseljuje poslovni program in obratujeta še danes. Leta pomankljivega vzdrževanja so privedla do izrazite dotrajanosti objekta, hkrati pa smo v preteklih letih doživeli spremembe, ki so za večno predrugačile naš način bivanja in zaposlovanja. Vse to so razlogi, da je čas za obnovo in reprogramiranje objekta na način, da bo ta bo primeren za ljudi vseh generacij in različnih dejavnosti, predvsem pa bo imel doprinos za mesto in obiskovalce, ter bo sledil trenutnim potrebam.

Abstract

Architecture and architects are facing an important question: What will their role be in the future? This master’s thesis explores whether architecture is just about thoughtless construction or we should rather focus on fixing up and refreshing existing buildings. The main issue I focus on is the functional renovation of a hotel-business complex in Škofja Loka. Similar to other Slovenian towns, Škofja Loka is faced with degraded areas in its center and surroundings. These areas hurt the town’s reputation, esthetichs and do not benefit the people’s needs. One of the most problematic areas is the Kapucinsko suburb with the Transturist complex, which is the first contact for visitors and people coming into town. The complex is composed of three towers with a common ground floor and basement. First, they built the Hotel Transturist tower which was unable to face its challenges throughout the years. This resulted in the closing of the hotel. And 15 years later, it was sold into private ownership. The business towers, however, are still working today. Years of poor maintenance brought the building to a run-down state. Additionally in the past few years we have witnessed important changes in the way we live and work. That is the reason it’s time to renovate and update the building to benefit people of all ages and their activities as well as fulfil the needs of Škofja Loka’s visitors and society.
