Abstract

Abstract:
In the thesis of my diploma work I presented the situation of the brown bear at the hunting administration of the Primorska region, assessed the entire losses of brown bears (Ursus arctos Linnaeus, 1758), estimated the appropriateenvironments for the bears to live in and determined the most oftenplaces and dynamics of attacks. From entirely 29 cases of losses there were 69% of bears which were run over by a train or a car which is most likelythe reason for the irregular structure of the population. It has been determined that the brown bear could at the appropriate number of bears live without many conflicts on the wide area of Slavnik and Vremščica mountains, where the forest grasps a larger area with a smaller density of population. Most of the cases of damage are so located on the territory of Brkini, Čičarija and Kras at the foothills of the Vremščica mountain. The most frequent number of cases appeared in September and in the 40,3 % of them brownbear attacked small cattle.
