Abstract
Zaključek predstavlja analizo in napoved proizvodnje električne energije v Sloveniji, saj bo to izredno pomembna tema v prihodnosti.

Title:A role of nuclear technology in electric power systems
Abstract:
Electricity is becoming an increasingly important part of our lives. We live in an era, where digitalization and automation are in the reach of our fingertips. However, the benefits brought by electric power are not as straightforward, as they may seem. The supply of electrical energy to our household outlets is much more complex, than we think. In this assignment I aimed to present various energy sources, the production and transmission of electrical energy, and the future of the power industry in Slovenia. For an overview of electricity production, I utilized the Electricity maps application. Electric energy is the energy of the future, especially, if we aim to achieve climate neutrality, and at the same time electrify transportation, heating and digitalization. Since the goal of the future is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in all areas, with a particular emphasis on the power industry, I introduced alternative energy sources along with their advantages and disadvantages. A crucial source will undoubtedly be nuclear energy, which still evokes fear and discomfort among people. To address this, I explained the working principles of nuclear power plants, their environmental impact and development. I also dispelled some myths associated with discussions about nuclear energy and clarified them. The conclusion includes an analysis and prediction of electricity production in Slovenia, as this will be an extremely important topic in the future.
