Characterization of a sample isolated from an aqueous solution of a reaction mixture of copper sulfate pentahydrate, sodium carbonate decahydrate, and acetylsalicylic acid
Abstract: I determined the composition of the unknown sample using certain physico- chemical methods. From the above, I concluded that the unknown sample is copper(II) aspirinate. After the identification was complete, I prepared the compound using the already known synthesis route, analyzed it, and finally compared the results of the analyses of the unknown sample and the prepared compound. Comparisons of the analysis confirmed my assumption that the unknown sample is copper(II) aspirinate $Cu_2(C_9H_7O_4)_4$.
