Abstract
Slovensko literaturo smo iskali prek spletnega kataloga COBISS.si.

Title:Patient education after an esophageal stent placement : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: In most cases, esophageal cancer is diagnosed at an advanced stage, since clinical signs are detected very late. Dysphagia is the most common symptom. In such cases, patients have difficulty with oral feeding. An intraluminal stent placement into the esophagus allows these patients to feed normally. Purpose: To study and present the importance of the activity of teaching the patient after the intraluminal stent placement into the esophagus. Methods: The descriptive method of work was used for the elaboration of the thesis. A review of Slovenian and foreign professional and scientific literature was carried out. The selection of literature was not limited by the time of publication, so older literature was also used for relevance. It was accessed through MEDLINE and CINAHL databases, as well as Google Scholar. Slovenian literature was searched through the COBISS.si online catalog. Results: We presented the learning content, according to selected life activities after the insertion of an intraluminal esophageal stent and the definitions of selected nursing diagnoses according to the NANDA-I classification. Discussion and conclusion: An intraluminal stent placement into the esophagus improves the quality of patient's life. The role of the nurse is to teach the patient by providing understandable and accurate information and with the aim of improving his knowledge. In addition to the nurse, all members of the interdisciplinary team and the patient's relatives are involved in teaching and informing.
