Introduction: Under basic health insurance, patients have the right to a personal doctor and a dentist. Under dental care, patients are entitled to dental prosthetic rehabilitation, which is covered by the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia, if they meet the conditions. The Institute's payments are based on the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia Standard, which does not include modern technologies which are well developed nowadays. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to present the structure of the sales prices of dental restorations and to present the situation of prices on the Slovenian dental laboratories market and to compare them with the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia Standard. Methods: The survey focused on the population of dental technicians and graduate dental prosthetists working in Slovenian dental laboratories. Results: We found that market prices deviate from the norm and that one third of dental prosthetists use modern technologies in their work. Discussion and conclusion: The survey yielded the response that dental prosthetists would very much like to see an update of the Standard according to which the insurance company pays for prosthetic restorations. The average market price of metal-porcelain restorations is lower than for faceted restorations, and they can achieve more aesthetic results, so it would make sense to include them in the insurance standard.
