Abstract
Opravili smo sistematični pregled znanstvene in strokovne literature s področja zdravstvene nege, medicine in drugih zdravstvenih ved, medosebnih odnosov, komunikacije in izidov zdravljenja. Literatura je bila iskana v angleškem jeziku s ključnimi besedami healthcare workers AND teamwork AND cooperation AND quality of care AND patient safety, v podatkovnih bazah CINAHL (EBSCO), Medline (PubMed) in COBIB.SI. Spodbujanje učinkovite komunikacije in zmanjševanje konfliktov v zdravstvenih timih vodita k boljši oskrbi in pozitivnim izkušnjam pacientov. To dosežemo z usklajenimi prizadevanji zdravstvenega osebja, spodbujanjem odprte komunikacije, timskega dela in vključevanjem pacientov v skupno odločanje.

Title:The impact of interpersonal relationships in healthcare teams on patient treatment outcomes : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: The influence of interpersonal relationships is reflected in communication within the healthcare team and in the relationship with patients. It is important to understand how certain behaviors can promote or hinder collegiality and collaboration in the workplace, which is key to effective teamwork. All of this is aimed at providing the best possible care to patients. Purpose: The purpose of the diploma work is to examine the outcomes of nursing care or treatment, which are influenced by the interpersonal relationships of employees in the health care team, who participate in the treatment of patients and contribute to the treatment with their own decisions. Our attention is focused on hospitalized patients and on researching the impact of quality and poor quality interpersonal relationships between healthcare workers who are directly connected to them. We want to find out how these relationships affect the course, duration and outcomes of these patients' treatment. Methods: In the diploma work, we used the descriptive method of work. With a systematic review of scientific and professional literature in the field of nursing, medicine and other health sciences, interpersonal relationships, communication, and treatment outcomes. The search took place in the time frame from April to August 2023. The literature was searched in the English language using the keywords healthcare workers AND teamwork AND cooperation AND quality of care AND patient safety, in the CINAHL, Medline (PubMed) and COBIB.SI databases. We included 28 articles in the analysis, which were evaluated on a four-point scale according to the strength of the evidence. Results: Improving patient outcomes in hospitals requires a focus on improving interpersonal communication, relationships and collaboration between healthcare professionals. By promoting effective communication and reducing conflict, healthcare teams can deliver better care and a positive patient experience. Good interpersonal relationships play a key role in the success of teams, including health teams, and influence patient safety, patient satisfaction, decision-making, patient involvement and treatment outcomes. Collaboration and interprofessional education are key to effective teamwork. Challenges such as cost containment, patient safety, conflict and overload require close collaboration between healthcare professionals to deliver high quality care. It is important to emphasise effective communication and teamwork, which can have a positive impact on patient outcomes, while strained relationships can hinder care and compromise treatment outcomes. Discussion and conclusion: Improving patient outcomes in hospitals requires a focus on improving interpersonal communication, relationships and collaboration between healthcare professionals. Promoting effective communication and reducing conflict within healthcare teams leads to better care and positive patient experiences. This is achieved by coordinated efforts by healthcare staff, promoting open communication, teamwork and involving patients in shared decision-making. This patient-centred approach contributes to improved patient outcomes and experiences.
