In this thesis, we focused on the comprehensive presentation of the literary-artistic project of Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk, called The Museum of Innocence. At the beginning of the thesis, we focused on presenting the novel The Museum of Innocence (Masumiyet Müzesi) and placed it in the broader context of the writer's work and the development of the Turkish novel. Through a thorough analysis of the novel's structure, we also became acquainted with the cultural-historical framework of the themes addressed within it.
Furthermore, we delved into the understanding of collecting, museums, and museology, and applied the acquired knowledge in the analysis of Pamuk's museum. Using museological theory, we attempted to depict the problematic nature of The Museum of Innocence as a museum. We achieved this by addressing Pamuk's understanding of time, his parallel use of truth and fiction, and by seeking related examples that would explain Pamuk's unconventional project.
