The article discusses the verbal and the multimodal resources that construe evaluation of Primož Trubar's work in the Slovene textbooks of Slovene, History and Society edited between 1858 and 2002, and the image of Primož Trubar that the generations of students got within the mentioned period of time. The analysis focuses on the clauses as representation (identifying and attributive) within the ideational metafunction in verbal texts as discussed by M. A. K. Halliday, and the interaction between verbal and pictorial as argued by Kress & van Leeuwen, furthermore it shows the role of the meaning-pointing lexeme in meaning-making process in multimodal texts.
