Abstract
Paracetamol je protibolečinska in protivročinska učinkovina, uporabljena v veliko zdravilih kot sama aktivna učinkovina ali v kombinaciji z drugimi učinkovinami. V diplomskem delu sem preverjala vsebnost paracetamola v vzorcih zdravil s pretečenim rokom uporabe, pri tem se je v enem od štirih primerov izkazalo, da vsebuje nižjo koncentracijo paracetamola, kot je predpisano za zdravilo. Hkrati sem kvantitativno ločila in določila tudi druge komponente v vzorcih, kjer so bile te prisotne. Raziskavo sem razširila še na razgradnjo vzorca paracetamola v zdravilih pri različnih stresnih pogojih, kot so nizka in visoka temperatura ter alkalen in kisel pH, v namen ovrednotenja razgradnje učinkovine za nadaljnje metode določevanja. Rezultati so pokazali, da je razgradnja paracetamola najbolj intenzivna v alkalnem pH pri povišani temperaturi, med tem ko se učinkovina nekoliko počasneje razgrajuje v kislem pH.

Title:The effect of stress conditions on the degradation of paracetamol in medicines
Abstract:
Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic drug used in many pharmaceuticals alone or in combination with other substances. In this research, I analysed the amount of paracetamol left in expired drug samples and in one out of four cases, the concentration of paracetamol was actually lower than prescribed. I also quantitively separated and determined other substances in drug samples, where they were present. I expanded the research onto the analysis of the degradation of paracetamol in different stressful conditions, such as low temperature, high temperature, acidic and alkaline pH, with the purpose of evalution degradation for use in further determination methods. Results showed that the most intensive degradation of paracetamol is in alkaline pH at a high temperature, whereas it degrades slower in acidic pH.
