Abstract

Title:Development of Eco-Friendly Protective Packaging from Japanese Knotweed Paper Pulp
Abstract:
The packaging is the component of the product that serves no purpose during its use, as it is discarded immediately after the product is delivered to the customer. Consequently, the current objective is to minimize the use of packaging or to manufacture as much packaging as possible using recycled materials. In the process of waste recycling, materials are generated for the creation of new products, the material parameters of which are unknown. To determine these parameters, numerical static analysis in combination with experimental methods can be used. As a result of the master's thesis, an environmentally friendly protective packaging product was developed from Japanese knotweed, which would otherwise be disposed of in a landfill. Recycled packaging provides the same or superior product protection compared to expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam) packaging, while also helping to protect the environment and enables cost savings. When transitioning from conventional protective packaging to eco-friendly alternatives, it is important to be aware of their limitations. In the specific case of using protective packaging made from paper pulp of Japanese knotweed, one of the key drawbacks is a decrease in effectiveness in a humid environment.
